a sucker for green hair

for years people have encouraged me to blog... and for years i have lived a personal mantra i call "u-turn worthy". this has generally applied to cars i may not encounter again (as the name implies), but it covers pretty much anything from street art to architecture to nature to some fantastic outfit as it does here.

In Greenwich, Connecticut everyone (for the most part) looks and dresses the same. There are a few different "uniforms" which i will no doubt touch upon in subsequent posts, but for the most part this town is THE quintessential derivative preppy mecca.

THAT'S why "Olive" is featured here in my first ever blog. fashion and personal style are HUGELY important to me and a day doesn't go by where i don't document or compliment someone's sense of it.

i first encountered this Olive while i was in search of WiFi and a snack. I complimented her on what a fantastic ensemble she'd put together and she thanked me, albeit rather meekly

after finding snack but no "interweb" i teased her that Greenwich had never experienced so much "Emo" (yes, i'm aware of it even if i don't exactly know what it is) as i said it in passing, i assume she simply rolled her eyes. BUT, there was something about these faux encounters which compelled me to finally DO something tangible with regard to my fashion appreciation... and so i DID. I sat down in Starbucks, logged onto this site and began formulating my first blog. AND THEN SHE WALKED IN...

now as a man, approaching young women on the street (or in coffee shops) can be... difficult, awkward, confusing, etc, so it was with mild trepidation that i approached this "girl" and her bestie.

SO, as i wrote #uturnworthy down on my business card i simply stated that i'd been meaning to start a fashion blog for ages and her outfit inspired me to finally do so and if it would be ok to shoot her for it. The fact that her name is Olive made it even that much better.

I don't know if this venture will continue after this installment, but I am glad that i got around to doing it if only this far. and i ESPECIALLY thank Olive for her style and willingness to be a part of this.

ok, an amazing vintage Mercedes just drove by so i'm done pontificating about teen girl fashion.
